Furniture manufacturing and marketing veteran Sherwood Robertson passes away

COLFAX, N.C. — Furniture industry veteran Noel Sherwood Robertson passed away at his home on Dec. 23, 2024. He was 87.

Born May 13, 1937 in Crewe, Va., he was the son of Richard and Louise Robertson. He married Patricia Wisecarver in 1964 and made their home in Fort Worth, Texas. Robertson had a long and varied career in the furniture industry, beginning in engineering with David M. Lea in Richmond, Va. A couple of years later he joined a consulting company in Fort Worth.

He was involved in manufacturing, marketing, design, executive positions and consulting in the furniture industry. Robertson was active in the American Home Furniture Manufactures Assn. and served as president of the marketing division.

Robertson was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother and a sister. He is survived by his wife, a sister and sister-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, N.C. 27262, or to Crewe Railroad Museum, 125 Carolina Ave, Crewe, Va. 23930.

A celebration of life will take place at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 4, at River Landing in Colfax with a reception following in the chapel, 1575 John Knox Drive, Colfax, N.C. 27235.
