JACKSON, Miss. — Furniture sales representative Wilson Sterling Jeter passed away on Jan. 7 here.
Jeter was born on Feb. 3, 1942, in Memphis, Tenn., to Bill and Mildred Jeter. He graduated from Messick High School in June 1961 and went on to earn an Associate of Business from Northwest Mississippi Junior College in January 1964, followed by a Bachelor of Business at The University of Mississippi in January 1967.
A veteran furniture manufacturer’s sales representative for more than 50 years, Jeter represented various companies before retiring from Harden manufacturing in 2014. He was active in industry associations, serving a term as president of the Mississippi Home Furnishings Representatives Assn. and as governor of the International Home Furnishings Representatives Assn.
Preceded in death by a brother, Jeter is survived by his three sons and three grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held 2-t p.m., Jan. 11, at Ridgeland Baptist Church at 302 W. Jackson St., Ridgeland, Miss. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Jan. 14, followed by burial at 4577 CR 226, Water Valley, Miss.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
