SADDLE BROOK, N.J. — Furniture retail veteran Jimmy Greenbaum died Jan. 24 at the age of 93.
Greenbaum was owner of Greenbaum Interiors since 1952, coming to work until just three months before he died.
Known as a trailblazer in the interior design and furniture retailing, he started workshops at the store in the 1960s to allow for changing finishes and hardware for customers.
“Seventy-one years in the industry, and he was still learning, adapting and loving every minute of it,” said his daughter, Susan Greenbaum Gross. “He built lasting business relationships and friendships with so many in the industry. He truly represented to old guard of the industry but remained steadfast to find, design, create and cultivate beautiful home furnishings.”
Greenbaum is survived by his wife of 62 Years, Ellen Greenbaum; two children and four grandchildren.
The family requests that donations may be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society or to a favorite interior design school.
