
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Long-time manufacturing sales rep Clyde Heck Jr. died Dec. 9, 2022. He was 95.
Heck was born March 4, 1927, in Huntington. He was a graduate of Huntington High School class of 1945, served in the U.S. Army during WWII and Korea, and attended Marshall University.
Serving the furniture industry for more than 65 years, he retired as a manufacturer’s representative of Liberty Furniture at the age of 92. He was a member of B.P.O. Elks 313 American Legion Post 16 and was past president of the West Virginia Furniture Sales Assn.
A member of Baptist Temple for more than 70 years, Heck also was a life-long patron of the YMCA and a talented basketball player whose three-point set shot was legendary. During his 30 years of competition, his WV Senior Olympics team won several gold and silver medals. He last competed at the age of 88.
Heck is survived by two daughters, six grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A funeral with military rites was held on Dec. 15, 2022, by the Veterans Honor Guard, American Legion Post 16.
