CHICAGO — Jack Lawrence Gagan, longtime DirectBuy executive, died Aug. 26 at age 64.
Gagan was born March 15, 1955, and was a 1973 graduate of Andrean High School. He later graduated from Purdue University.
Gagan followed in the footsteps of his father, who founded United Consumers Club, later renamed DirectBuy, and had long career as senior vice president of merchandising for DirectBuy in the United States and Canada.
He earned his U.S. Coast Guard Master Captain’s 100-Ton License and had a lifelong passion for boating, earning the nickname Captain Jack. In addition, Gagan enjoyed golf and classic cars and loved animals.
Gagan is survived by his father, James L. Gagan Sr., and Claire A. Gagan; two brothers and three sisters; and his fiancée, Deborah Kelly.
Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Aug. 29 at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, Ind. There will be a private burial service for family and close friends at St. Paul’s Cemetery Chapel, 1550 S.
