NAPLES, Fla. – Scott Tinsley, former chairman of the International Sleep Products Assn. and a long-time bedding industry executive, died here Feb. 28. He was 70.
Tinsley was the long-time vice president of sales for Serta, where he spent more than 22 years in a number of different sales roles throughout the majority of his bedding career. Tinsely was vice chairman of the ISPA board until April 2023, and prior to that he had served on the association’s board in a variety of roles, including board trustee and chairman. Throughout his career, Tinsley worked as a home furnishings buyer for Marshall Field’s, director of marketing with Meadowcraft and as a sales manager for Rich’s.
He joined Sealy in 1983 as a key accounts manager where he remained until 1995 before joining Simmons Bedding. Tinsley was passionate about the arts, live music and cycling.
Born on Sept. 23, 1954, Tinsley is survived by his wife Nancy Bohman; four sons Ryan Tinsley (Mikie), Collin Tinsley (Cassie Syzmanski), Kevin Tinsley (Jeannette), and Chance Bohmann Moore (Baily Torres); three grandchildren; a sister and a brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Jean Tinsley.
A celebration of life will be held on April 3, from 1-4 p.m. at Henmick’s Farm and Brewery, 4380 N. Old State Rd., Delaware, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Tinsley’s name.
